I was born on a farm in Wynyard, Saskatchewan. I have four brothers and four sisters.

I moved to Winnipeg in the 1950s and attended Success Business College. My first job after graduating was as a stenographer with the Canadian Bank of Commerce. I subsequently worked for Benjamin Bros. Construction, Fleming Pedlar Coldstream refrigeration, fire equipment distributor Wajax Industries, and finally for Manitoba Housing until my retirement in 1996.

Soon after coming to Winnipeg, I took up roller skating at the Langside Roller Rink where I met my future husband Ted Blow. At that time roller skating was like ice skating where you graduated from Bronze Medals to Gold Medals as you became more adept at roller skating. I also took classes in judging and did judge Gold Bar on a panel with two other judges from Minneapolis.

I married Ted Blow in 1958, whose father was Winnipeg's Chief of Police from 1965 to 1970. I have two daughters, both of whom still live in Winnipeg.

Activities I participate in include singing with the Sweet Adelines, which I've been associated with for 25 years. For the past 10 years, I've also been clogging - and three years go, started playing hand bells with a seniors group. In addition to answering phones for CJNU, I also do volunteer work with the Telephone Volunteers making 'hug-a-bears' that are donated to the police and ambulance services.
