Frank's Yesteryear Radio Classics
Monday - Friday, 9:00 p.m. (Repeated the following morning at 2:00 a.m.)

Frank Liebzeit's collection of classic radio programs features a different theme each evening of the week. Monday is Theatre and Drama Night - Tuesdays offer the best in radio Westerns - Wednesday brings you lots of laughs on Comedy Night - Thursdays you'll hear Mystery and Suspense Night - and the week winds up with Friday's Variety Theatre Night.

Upcoming programs include:
Friday, July 30 - Variety Theatre Night takes you back to the early 1950s and a couple of Radio Classics from that era. First up is Bright Star and the episode 'George And The Informer' from November 27, 1952. Fred MacMurray stars as George Harvey and Irene Dunn as Susan Armstrong. The announcer is Harry Von Zell. That'll be followed by the Incredible But True feature 'The Constable's Companion'. The final half hour of the program will have Art Linkletter hosting the People Are Funny program from February 14, 1950. The program includes a segment on a 'Movie Star and Husband'.
Monday, August 2 - Theatre and Drama Night revives another program from the Lux Radio Theatre series - 'Irene', from June 29, 1936. The program stars Jeanette MacDonald as the red-haired, Irish Irene O'Dare. The program was produced by Cecil B. Demille.

That Fifties Show
Sundays Noon to 2 p.m.
'That Fifties Show' is a summer favouite on CJNU. Tom Dercola brings you all the music and songs from the Fabulous Fifties. All the singers, all the groups, rock and roll, teen ballads, wailing saxes, twangy guitars await you every Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. And you can even phone in your favourite requests - or send an email to requests@cjnu.ca if there's something you'd like Tom to play on his next program.

The Memories Show
Sundays 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
At 2 p.m. Tom shifts into two hours of 'The Memories Show', the best in swing bands and singers from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Listen to the great swing bands from Glenn Miller to Duke Ellington to Benny Goodman, the great singers from Frank Sinatra and Jo Stafford to Billie Holiday and Bing Crosby. Memories are made of this!

The Original Big Band Showcase
Sunday Afternoons 4:00 p.m. (Repeated Wednesday 7:00 p.m.)
Formal photograph of Denny Farrell 'The Original Big Band Showcase' with Denny Farrell (left) features the music of the big bands of the 1930s, 40s, 50s and the great big bands of today. Denny has a long history of broadcasting in his very distinctive format that combines Swing, Sweet, Dixieland and Jazz. He brings to his broadcasts an understanding of, and affection for this great music.

Rated as one of the top broadcasters in America, Denny was honoured with the National Ballroom and Entertainment Association's '2001 Award of Excellence' for The Original Big Band Showcase. Denny Farrell was inducted into the Big Band Hall of Fame on February 5, 2003 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He's one of only three announcers to ever receive this honour.

Denny's background is like a who's who in the Big Band/Jazz industry. Announcing chores have tied him to such greats as Count Basie, Tony Bennett, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Sammy Kaye, Bob Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Ralph Marterie, Harry James, Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich, Guy Lombardo, Maynard Ferguson, Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Red Norvo, Helen Forrest, Peggy Lee, and Artie Shaw to name only a few.

Lee Major is now hosting his own Jazz show on CJNU! Déjà vu? Yes, he's done this before! Not only has he hosted jazz shows, but he's interviewed some of the greatest figures in jazz, and travelled to jazz festivals around the world! Jazz is most definitely his 'bag'! And he's once again 'spinning some hot wax' every Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. So tuned in to CJNU for 'Music To Listen To Jazz By', jazz jewels with Lee Major.
