I am a lifelong resident of St. Vital - 35 of my 36+ years teaching career were spent in the St. Vital School Division as well, so I am well entrenched in the area. The last 12 years of my teaching career I also served as a teaching vice principal. During these 36 years I was very involved on many committees on a divisional, provincial and national level. After retiring in 1997 I spent two years as a salesperson for a Canadian educational supply company.
In addition to my teaching career, I also spent 16 years as a professional bartender both at the Convention Centre and the Heather Curling Club. I am currently working at Sears as a roving reporter doing PA announcements on a part time basis.
I have also been involved in many volunteer activities. I served on a wide variety of committees in our church, sang in the church choir for 13 years, was a volunteer at both Pan Am Games here in Winnipeg, volunteered at Mug Pub and the Pavillion of Scotland for Folklarama, and was a cub leader for several years.
Currently I am on the Board of Directors for Winnipeg South Seniors Village Association, a group of volunteers looking to build affordable housing in the St. Vital area in a village type setting. And of course, I am a volunteer with my favourite radio station, CJNU.
