I have been blessed by good fortune to survive some slippery slopes through an extended career in broadcasting. A bit before 1960 I had my first taste of media at the Winnipeg Tribune with print legends like Jack Matheson, Jack Wells and Vince Leah.

My first radio experience came in Portage la Prairie, followed by CKRC in Winnipeg – more legends like Harry Taylor, Doc Stein, Bob Washington and Don Slade – then CFAC in Calgary, CBC radio in Calgary, national radio news at CBC Toronto, CBC television in Calgary, national TV news in Toronto, CBC TV Edmonton, and finally CBC Toronto - something like 25 years in total.
