Head shot of Maggi May Robinson

Maggi May Robinson

CJNU Announcer

Dubbed "Winnipeg's High Priestess of the Blues", Maggi May Robinson is a retired blues and jazz musician whose Winnipeg-based career came as a surprise not long after she received a master's degree in public administration. While looking for work, Maggi started singing with a blues band to make ends meet.

She was a natural entertainer with an ear for big band music and jazz standards nurtured by her father, and a love for the blues-inspired rock of the 60's. A classically trained pianist as well, she added her piano skills to the mix after a little encouragement from Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd who had heard her perform at the Windsor Hotel. Maggi went on to be a mainstay at Winnipeg nightclubs, casinos and festivals for a decade.

Although no longer performing, Maggi is a firm believer that music is one of the most powerful forces in the universe. Her appreciation for all genres is alive and well and thriving at CJNU.
