CJNU Announcer
It's a great pleasure to join everyone at CJNU and to work with people both on and off the air! Volunteering as an announcer here has not only allowed me to select and listen to a wonderful variety of music for everyone's listening pleasure, but it also lets me get back in the broadcast mode.
I spent about 20 years in Radio and Television broadcasting. My first job was at Intermountain TV in Dauphin, then on to CKPR in Thunder Bay, CITV TV in Edmonton, CKVU in Vancouver, then CBC in St. John's, Newfoundland, as well as here in Winnipeg.
I've worked in many areas - from on air TV and radio news, weather and sports - to many jobs behind the scenes. My career allowed me to tell many wonderful stories and to meet a variety of people, highlights being Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, as well as Pope John Paul II.
As you can tell, I've travelled a bit. Guess it's in the blood. My father was in the Armed Forces and moving was a given. My mother is from Bournemouth, England, and I have visited there many times over the years.
I'm married to Reg Sherren, who works for CBC The National. We have two children.
