CJNU Board of Directors
I am a staunch supporter of nostalgia music and CJNU in particular, bringing a passion for all kinds of music, combined with a strong belief in charitable and non-profit causes. Although not a professional or even practicing musician, I've been told I have an ear for music and can carry a tune!
I am a fish and wildlife biologist, having worked for the Province of Manitoba since 1971. Development of Oak Hammock, Netley and Delta Marshes was a main responsibility in the early '70s. It was one of the main reasons I moved with wife Lynne to Stonewall in 1974, although we both enjoy small towns, originally coming from Kapuskasing and Kenora respectively.
In the 1990s, I developed a Provincial community-based round-table program for community development involving volunteers and local organizations, which has been modeled in other jurisdictions and organizations across Canada. Currently I focus my efforts on managing barren-ground caribou through the Beverly and Qamanirjuaq Caribou Management Board for which I am the Secretary-Treasurer (www.arctic-caribou.com).
I am a professional facilitator and strategic planner, having conducted over 100 workshops with communities and organizations, and taught courses at the University of Manitoba. Hopefully I can contribute along these lines to Nostalgia Broadcasting's goals and priorities.
Community involvement and volunteering throughout Stonewall and elsewhere was a contributing factor to my election in 2002 as Mayor of Stonewall, where I'm currently enjoying a second term of office.
I am a biker, since accepting a challenge from the Mayor of Gimli to organize volunteers and ride the 100 mile round trip from Stonewall to Gimli and back every August in the MS Bike Tour. This is person-powered, not gas-powered! I completed my fifth ride in 2010, promoting CJNU. along the way.
I also breed and raise aquarium and pond fish as a hobby. My wife and I have three children, three grandchildren, and Molly the Cockapoo.
