Just when you least expect it, the ‘bad news’ business delivers amazing good news, and boy did we need it.

Friday morning we awoke on the prairies to the news that the Korean War is finally over. With the whole world watching, and possibly wondering if it might be Fake News, North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in locked hands and walked together across the concrete that marks the border between north and south.

Without Donald Trump or Vladimir Putin anywhere in sight, the two leaders managed to agree to declare an official end to the Korean War after 65 years, and work toward a common goal of eliminating all nuclear weapons from the small peninsula that has a total population of 80 million.

Wow, and double wow! Was it not just a few days ago that the bombastic American President was boasting that the button on his desk was bigger and more powerful than the one on the desk of the communist leader who Trump dismissed as ‘Rocket Man’ ?

The hands on the Doomsday Clock had moved closer to midnight than at any time in decades amid fears that  east and west might be drawn into a conflict that would be too horrible to contemplate. What on earth happened to turn this around so dramatically?

Might it have been the recent Winter Olympics where athletes from North and South competed together for the first time? Whatever was the tipping point, the result appears to be a miracle in the struggle for world peace.

If we dare to dream big and in technicolor, might the Karma from this amazing event spread to international efforts to end the horrible bloodshed in places like Syria and South Sudan? One can only hope.

Perhaps April is not the Cruellest Month after all.

Meanwhile, Go Jets Go !
